Over recent years the Sunridge Alpine Ski Team has grown in size (approx 100 athletes each year). As of 2023 we are operating cooperatively as two Boards of Directors together as the Sunridge Alpine Ski Team to enable club growth without sacrificing the quality of programming or needing larger registration fees. The objective for the Sunridge Alpine Ski Team is to continue to maintain organizational coherence, while administratively operating as two clubs, each with distinct revenue and fundraising streams. Administrative and financial separation are maintained to satisfy Societies Act requirements and AGLC requirements.
From an athletic programming view, and based on athlete numbers and programming mission, athletes who are U12 and under are part of the Strathcona Alpine Racing Club, and U14-19 and FIS SX athletes are part of the Sunridge Ski Club. The overall governance approach is to remain lean with two boards in place (with 5 members each), who will meet together sharing experience, expertise and programming considerations in order to maintain overall cohesion while minimizing administrative burdens on the club executive, coaching leadership team, parents and families. All coaches from both clubs will continue to report to the Head Coach, thus maintaining the program coherence as one Sunridge Alpine Ski Team.
